Which nut is the healthiest?
Most nuts contain healthy fats, fiber and protein, but two nuts that experts highlight are walnuts and almonds.
Walnuts
Walnuts also improve memory and help with learning.
They are a good source of omega-3s and also increase HDL, or high-density lipoprotein (“good cholesterol”) levels. HDL absorbs bad cholesterol from the blood and carries it to the liver to be eliminated from the body. High levels of HDL are associated with a lower risk of heart disease and stroke.
Research shows that walnuts also improve memory, learning, motor coordination, anxiety and motor performance.
Almond
Almonds have a lot of antioxidants.
Apart from being a good source of fiber and protein, almonds are also rich in vitamin E, which protects against cell damage by fighting free radicals in our body. Free radicals are unstable and highly reactive molecules that can lead to cellular aging, damage and cause disease.
However, both scientists and doctors agree that adding any type of nut to your diet will promote health. It's important to remember that no matter how tasty they are, remember not to indulge in them due to their high fat content.
